W. Beauty Repackages And Reminds Us Why Woolies Is A Great Beauty Destination

Full disclosure: At our house, Woolies means fresh, convenient and delicious food; cute kids’ clothes; great linen and homeware and a decent wine selection. I’ve personally never considered the store while shopping for my skin care or cosmetic products. In fact, I’m quite fond of their bath and shower range but I’ve never ventured into their beauty halls. Well, I now know that I’ve been playing myself (and probably so have you) – because their private label, W. Beauty skincare range, has a fresh new look and after trying some of their products together with some cult brand favorites,  I can’t stop talking about Woolworths as an actual and ideal beauty destination. They cater for all skin, fragrance and colour needs. The W. Beauty range claims Beauty Without Cruelty in addition to being over 70% locally produced, specifically for South African women by South Africans.

Let me count the “whys” of my newfound love for W. Beauty:

-The price range is excellent. Seriously… a serum for under R500

-The efficacy is impressive and that’s based on the quality active ingredients used.

-The W. Beauty offering is 75% locally produced, which does wonders for the conscience and, of course, the environment. The entire skin care range is also vegan friendly and endorsed by Beauty Without Cruelty.

-The packaging is sleek, clean and timeless. Don’t know about you but when it comes to beauty, packaging is half the battle for me.

-Woolies shopping is super accessible because you have options: go in-store or shop online and have the stuff delivered to your door.

-Lastly, and this may be the best part, the W. Beauty skin products complement the established, cult beauty brands they already stock. For instance, I’m in love with the W. Beauty gel cleanser and I use it together with the Bobbi Brown Cleansing Oil for some double cleansing action.

It’s great to be able to shop for affordable skin care as well as some luxury splurges all under one roof.

Dr. Hauschka, Clarins, REN – these are just come of the trusted beauty brands you’ll recognize in the store. I truly recommend the W. Beauty R55 sheet masks for every skin concern. My favorite is definitely the Hydration Mask – it’s perfect for a night time pamper just before bed. Real and true value for money.

Tip: Make sure you apply any remaining product from the mask on the back of your hands. With all the driving we do, our hands are constantly exposed to the sun and let’s be honest, how many of us apply sunscreen to our hands? Not me. And it’s starting to show.

Fact: Your neck and back of hands are the first to show signs of premature photoageing usually due to sun damage.

Pro Tip: Never be scared to use different brands on your face. What you need to look out for are the ingredients. If your ingredients complement each other, you’re in.
