So by now you must know that your skin has different needs at different stages of your life. For instance, what your skin was doing during your hormonal teen years is quite different to how it was during your partying twenties and certainly keeps changing throughout your 30s and beyond. None of us can stop the natural ageing process – in fact I like to see ageing as a privilege – but we sure want to still feel vibrant and healthy while ageing along!
We’ve all heard the phrase “black don’t crack”, right? Well, I am here to tell you that it may not crack but it sure does sag. Especially after the age of around 35. Yes, our skin loses volume, which is created by your skin’s production of collagen. This collagen producing process dramatically slows down the older you get and your skin will lose that bounce and gravity will take charge. It happens to all of us. It’s nature’s way of saying “nothing lasts forever…without a little help.”
NIVEA has long been a trusted brand in our household. My first memories of the brand go back to my childhood and the blue tin. The scent of the original NIVEA Cream takes me to summer days of endless frolicking in the water before coming out and getting my face covered in the NIVEA Cream to kill the ashy look. I still do that on my kids’ faces after a swim… you should try it. But right now I’m 38 years old and I want to talk about their new Hyaluron Cellular Filler range, which consist of a day cream, a night cream, a serum and an eye cream. As the name suggests, the main ingredient is Hyaluronic Acid, which cleverly helps your skin help itself by stimulating its cells to produce their own Hyaluronic Acid and Collagen. This basically means it assists your skin to get back to its original bounce.
The other very important ingredient in the products is Magnolia Extract, which helps to prevent loss of elasticity in the skin. This will reduce those crow’s feet and any other fine lines that may be creeping in. The best part is, Magnolia Extract will increase your skin’s resistance to inflammation, which is the number 1 culprit for most if not all of your skin concerns.
I know for the longest time I was confused about when to apply my eye cream – before or after the moisturiser? Does it even matter? I found out that the general rule with skin products is to go from thinest consistency to thickest. So if your eye cream is thicker and denser than your moisturiser, you apply it after the moisturiser but if it’s thinner, it goes on before. In this case, after you’ve cleansed, exfoliated and toned, here’s the correct order:
2. Eye Cream (wait a minute or two until it’s absorbed)
3. Day or Night Cream
